For most of us, when a car breaks down it comes as a shock. Even the most auto-savvy car owners can’t prevent the failures and faults that characterise car ownership. Breakdown cover provides the assurance of a safety net if the worst happens when you least expect it.

Why have breakdown cover?

Without breakdown cover, if something happens to your car then you’re going to have to fix it yourself, whether you’re in the driveway of your house of half way down the M5. However, if you’ve got breakdown cover for your vehicle then you can instantly get help for most things, from a flat battery, to flat tyres and engine problems, even lost car keys.

What levels of cover are available?

You can choose the level of breakdown cover you opt for and the more expensive the cover, the more extensive the support that you have.

Roadside – this will give you the basic protection of being able to call someone out to help try and fix the issue at the roadside. If that’s not possible then this cover will also include getting you and your car to the nearest garage.

Vehicle – this includes transporting your car back either to your home or onward to where you need to be.

Onward – this will cover your ongoing costs of getting to wherever it is you were trying to go, no matter what’s happened to the car.

Home start – assistance is provided to get your car restarted within a quarter of a mile of where you live.
